I don't believe we're in 2007! it just sounds like it should be so far in the future. All in all I had a very good 2006
- I got married
- I had a baby
- I got a fantastic opportunity to do some consulting work for my employers in NY from Nigeria with the same salary (and no US taxes!!!! :))
- I got tenants who pay their rent on time (knock on wood)
- I moved to Nigeria with my family
- I have a family who loves me very much and parents that are ready to support me in whatever decision I take
Ok I'm going off track, bottom line 2006 was a good year and hopefully 2007 will be better. I don't have any new year resolutions per se, but I would like to make a few changes
- Workout more (ok fine, just workout period)
- Update my blog more frequently
- Work on my temper, it's gotten shorter and shorter over the years
- Actively seek out more business opportunities
- Be myself (don't let any of those snotty ex-QC mates of mine turn me into a snotty bitch as well, haba we've grown past that!)
Anyway, enough of this sappy mess. I had 3 weddings in a row on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, never again, those girls/women that go every weekend try. They were all good weddings, it was good to see familiar faces again but as usualy you know there are always the stuck up bitches who act like they don't know you. Whatever.
So that's how for the wedding on thursday, when we were leaving my cousin asked us to give her friend a ride back to Ikeja, this chick got in the car and started saying "turn left, turn ROIGHT", please what the hell is ROIGHT?!!What's up with everyone in Lagos having an accent anyway?.... So homegirl was flirting with my husband right in front of me sha......."oh you don't know your way [insert sexy giggle here]....oh ok don't worry I will show you the way...." I was like this chick is bold!, I almost left the front seat for her to come and sit down oh! Anyway we finally dropped her off somewhere in Alausa, that's how my Mr. was telling me the next day that the girl left her number in the car!! can you imagine!!

Don't ever think of leaving the front seat for any girl to sit beside your husband (I know you said it light-heartedly, but seriously speaking...don't even think of it!)! I hear the girls in naija are like hawks when it comes to married men.
Anyway, happy New Year to you too. I hope 2007 will be even more prosperous for you than 2006 was.
daaaangg! That girl was bold!! ahn ahn!
WOW... all that in 2006?! You are truly blessed. May this year be even better than the last...
Happy new year!
Thanks April, don't worry, no way I'm leaving any seat for any girl, naija girls are like hawks when it comes to men period (married, unmarried, old young)..it's crazy.
Belle....who are you telling? I was shocked oh! I mean I have met some crazy NY chicks but this is a whole new level I tell you. Thanks for the well wishes, my mom tells me I'm a lucky woman every day.
May 2007 bring all our hearts desires!
Hahahaha ...She actually did all that in front of u and also left her number ...Omo thats too much ..what would she have one if aint there ..LOL
Happy new year
Happy NEw Year to you too!! Lagos Chicks are bold oh!! You wouldnt want to try them!! Abeg shine ya eye well, well!! She left her number eh? (check out soul sista's blog the link is on my page) She went for a wedding (one of her posts between oct & dec) with her husband and a girl was flirting with her husband right in front of her. Thank God she had friends who know the runs and they all went to 'gist' with the lagos girl. They asked her if she liked they guy and she was boasting that she'd like to catch him that he seems a nice guy. Catch him ke with his wedding band shining on his finger? Well, his wife (soul sista) responded that any 'getting to know' her husband would have to be done through her as she was married to him. The lagos chick was so embarrassed and skimpered off. To find another likely victim I'm sure!! Why not give her a call? Yeye Girl!!
I love weddings but the cost of attending is getting so high. How do you guys cope in Naija? I hear the cost of buying the Aso Ebi is heading for the skies daily. And you attended 3 in one weekend!!
Best of wishes for 2007!!
@naijabloke..yes oh! she wasn't even scared, and I was looking pretty hot if I may say so myself :). How can she even think of trying to competing with me?! Happy New year to you as well!
calabar_gal..I read that entry on soul sisters blog, I was rolling with laughter, little did I know I was going to be having my own episode soon :).
Funny enough, I was just complaining to my mom on the cost of attending weddings here. The price of aso-ebi is really sky-rocketting, I'm going to have to put a 1 aso-ebi limit per year otherwise I'll be bankrupt. Luckily/Unluckily, I don't have that many close friends getting married.
that was a bold move. nija girls are fiyar!
she left her number in the car like 4real?!?! THe effrontery!
I think you should have called her...just to let her know, your husband told you all about it...
...I believe in peace, but there comes a time you need to shake things up abit, just to let ppl like her know, your no softy!
Enjoying your blog so far...
so u have been confronted with dat silly q.c attitude of pretending they dont know when u both know u used to take turns trying to read novels pple.
That attitude never fails to amaze why do we have to pretend at this stage when we have gotten over our adolescent issues,or maybe some pple havent.
Lol, me again. I need a blog so I can leave my identity. Anyway, your experiences sound so much like mine (erm, except for the fact that I am as yet unmarried and childless, but hey).
My friend and I once did 3 weddings in ONE DAY!
NEVER AGAIN!
We were totally shattered.
Anyway, 2 things that SERIOUSLY get to me in this country, despite the obvious, traffic, epilectic electricity, etc, are:
1/ The people I was friends with in London/NY who were SO down to earth who have moved back to Lagos and have suddenly changed. Yeah, its that whole snooty thing, and youre like "sorry, but wtf do YOU have to be snooty about!". Its something that I have had to try not to let get to me, because I have drifted from a lot of close friends for that reason.
2/ Girls like that shameless cow. Yeah I'm not married, but I have enough pride/compassion and realisation of how I'd feel if someone ever did it to me, to ever go after someone else's husband! I've even had girls try and break me up with guys I've been dating. I was once- very obviously- out with this guy, and a girl 'playfully' slapped his ass!!!. You should have knocked that chick out, jo!
