Back to Original Programming

Sorry guys, I know I've been AWOL for a minute, it's this work wahala. Anyway I won't bore you with the details.

Last weekend one of my mom's friends came over and she had got her eyebrows tattoed. (I didn't know they did that in Nigeria) Anyway, they looked totally fab, and my mom is considering getting hers done. I don't know about tattoing my eyebrows, what if all of a sudden I want round eyebrows instead of arched eyebrows?...lol (I know I can be a complete ditz), then I'll be stuck with arched ones.......quelle horreur!!. Or what if I just want a totally different look altogether?

So with all this talk of eyebrows, I decided that I wanted to get my eyebrows done. Honestly it's just something I'm not fond of doing. I like the finished look, but I hate the process, I can say that in my entirely life I have gotten my eyebrows waxed a total of 5 times, okay maybe 6. For one it hurts so much and then I breakout in the areas they waxed and by the time my craw craw is clearing my eyebrows are pretty much grown out. So please what is the point? I wanted to try threading them before I left the states but I never got around to. So I had my Aunt employ the Lagos technique of 'scraping' sorry shaping eyebrows with a blade on me......it actually didn't turn out bad, it's thinner than I would have liked, so I have a little too much of the 'experienced' look, but other than that it's not bad.

Does anyone know if they thread eyebrows anywhere in Lagos?

So on to more important things. My baby is crawling (she's been crawling since New Year) and just started walking with support (holding the chair, bed, etc and moving from point A to B). I am very excited and also very nervous, cause the havoc this girl has caused just crawling, I don't even want to know what's going to happen when she can actually walk. God help us all.

The nail place in VI (Musa Yardua Cres I think, under tiffany amber store in VI) does threading of eyebrows. This lebanese dude does it there and he's good. It'll hurt though.

Oh coool! thanks for the information anonymous!, definitely will try this out as soon as my eyebrows grow back.

It's good to know that your baby is becoming independently mobile. As a mother of 2 toddlers with one on the way, I can confidently tell you to get yourself ready. Once the child does not need anything or anyone anymore, you will get a physical and mental workout (i.e. headache). Take care and goodluck.

I remember a couple of years ago permanent make up was the latest craze in town. So its still waxing strong eh? I'm scared shitless of that. That the laser will slip or something and do some havoc to my eyes. So thats a no go beauty treatment.

I'm thinking seriously of threading my eyebrows too. *SIGH* The things we do in the name of beauty. Ur baby is crawling already!!! Thats so nice!! I bet u cant wait for her to start taking her first steps.

I prefer waxing. You get used to the pain... and the craw craw should stop after you wax regularly. I think you'll also get the craw craw with threading... not sure. But that is what I heard.

The razor blade scares me... like calabar gal said.. what if there is a slip?

This whole beauty thing, na wah. If you are not contemplating brows, it sunscreen, nails, microderm abbrasion... and for us older gals hair dye. lol.

love your blog.

@solomonsydelle, congratulations on the 'coming soon' baby!. It's not fair, it's supposed to get easier :( how am I supposed to want to get willingly pregnant again with all this?

@calabar gal, waxing is still going strong oh! though in Lagos everyone I ask seems to scrape theirs (lol..maybe I know only local champions). But you're right this whole beauty thing na real wa! Yes oh! my puff puff (as my sister likes to call her) is moving :)

Thanks anonymous, depending on your situation I think moving to Nigeria is a good idea, at least if nothing else it's worth a shot. Where in Jersey do you live? I used to live in Jersey when I just moved to the states, I was in FDU at the time.

mama bomboy could I be converting you to a regular reader? awww glad you love my blog. Say it ain't so, you still get craw craw with threading?, I really hope that's not the case. I will be sure to put my review up after I try this. Well thankfully I haven't reached the mandatory hair dye stage :)

oh I forgot calabar girl, I was trying to leave a comment on your blog on your hair "shaving" incident, but blogger was acting up. If it's not growing back fast enough you can go to www.longhaircareforum.com (I know I know) those girls have enough concotions to make a bald man grow waist length hair.

it's when they start talking that th real palafver starts oh. prepare yourself for the following. Stop, No. Go, No. Wait, No. Come, No. High, No. Low, No. Usually followed by why are you screaming mummy and pulling your hair out? u get the gist.

I thread my eyebrows, it takes a lot of getting used to but I prefer it to waxing. I don't think you get bumps from threading, I haven't.

That's so sweet about your baby... it's true sha, once babies can move around, God knows where and what they can get to!

Hi! New to your blog and absoultely love it! Read all your entries. Welcome back to Nigeria.
I must say, you seem to have adapted well in so short a time. Ur daughter is gorgeous. As a mum of a 3-year old son, who's proceeded now to seriously fight me, had an episode last nigt which lasted almost 40 mins!) - complete with kicking, biting, spitting and pinching!), I can understand the drama kids bring but alas, what do we do without them?

Looking fwd to more posts

Congrats... she's crawling and walking. I will feel such a sense of achievement when those things begin to happen to the tots I have in future. Then again, I'm also one of those paranoid idiots who fears that her child will be unable to read from some inexplicable reason, and that everyone will call her a bad mother.

I haven't had children yet, and this is how far my mind roams!

The Nail Place is the place for eyebrow threading. I personally never touch my eyebrows.

My mother has gone the tattooing the way and she screamed and howled the entire time. But then she's in her late 40s. You're young... that route is for when the eyebrow hair falls out and you're looking like a refugee xxx

My mom has her eyebrows tattoed on and they look good but it's not for me. I get my eyebrows waxed and it's not that bad. As someone said, if you wax consistently, it hurts less and eventually, the hairs don't grow back as quickly. Threading hurts like hell but if done well, look fabulous and the hair takes a while to grow back. Great blog....keep us posted!

From someone that nhas eyebrows like Bert from sesame Street, all I can say is I feel your pain. I don't know about the tatoo or threading, but I have always used a stick shaver on mine, and they have come out great! Trust! I can not afford to walk around looking like I don't know what, and it is painless and void of craw-craw. I hope this helps. I opened up a new blog greenpalms.blogspot.com. I am also thinking about relocating...

@toks-boy...sigh, I guess I better get prepared

@londonbuki..yeah both my sisters thread as well and prefer it to waxing. Imagine this girl is only crawling and she can pull cords and have your laptop come crashing down!

@Im (LM?)..thanks :) she looks like her mama. Wow...ouch...sounds like fun?...I guess I have even more to look forward to..lol

@bitchy, thanks, trust me I know the feeling, I definitely have my paranoid bouts as well, but you'll get over them. Lol...don't worry I have no intentions of tattoing my eyebrows.

@ms. may...Yeah, I don't think I can do that whole the more you do it the less it hurts, I swear the things we do to look good..lol. Thanks on the blog compliments :)

@simply gorgeous...lol...question though for all those who use some type of razor, doesn't the hair grow back 'agressive'? or you don't let it even grow before you start shaving again, just curious. Nigeria is definitely a special place. I'll check out your blog for details...

awww@ your baby crawling... i'd never tattoo my eyebrows.. way too permanent but i'm probably the textbook case of someone who needs it.. i can probably count how many strands of hair are on each eyebrow.. they're soo scanty... i never tweezed em.. just naturally like that... i still thread/wax em at least to get a shape.. and since i don't wear makeup.. i don't have a first clue about any of that 'shading in stuff'... but it's all good sha... thank God the other parts of my face are not so bad to look at ... otherwise.. e for be war!

The tattoed eyebrows thing is odd. I see some women with tattoed red eyebrown. And then what happens when you start to wrinkle? I just get my eyebrows shaped so i dont have to use a pencil. LOL

Yayyyy! for growing babies!!
Just thank God that she's growing according to schedule no matter the havoc she may cause....it's a blessing!!!
You should post more pictures soon, sorry can't help you with threading or waxing eyebrows, I've never had to them cos mine are pretty decent. They could be better but they're okay. I'm already doing too much, nails, hair, waxing and co. I figure one less thing will be more money and time in my purse.

And nope I was a W girl.....we're probably not even in the same set. Just great to see another real and down to earth QC chick even though it's in blogosphere.

:o)

overwhelmed naija babe, agree with you on the tattoing, not happening with me either. Lol at 'shading it in'

uzo....I never thought about what happens when you start to wrinkle, I guess you'll have wavy eyebrows?...LOL

chichi..definitely, I'm happy everything is right with my little kpuff kpuff :), well I'm a bit of a do it yourself-er so I save a good amount of money on my 'beautification'..lol. Are you serious? I was in W as well, hmm hmm what set where you?

I have been surfing online more than 2 hours today,
yet I never found any interesting article like yours.
It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a
